I had the priviledge of spending the morning at Kelby Headquarters in Oldsmar, Florida. This is the company that puts on Photoshop World, runs the largest organization for Photoshop Professionals (NAPP), and provides the best online education for Photography and Creative Professionals Worldwide at KelbyTraining.com. A big thank you to my friend Charlotte Langley who made it all possible and who introduced me to a lot of the behind-the-scenes people who make Kelby Media run so smoothly. And a huge thank you to RC Concepcion for making me feel at home on the set of PhotoshopUserTV and for taking time out of his busy morning to show me around, answer my questions and just chat.
For those of you that know me, this was an incredible opportunity to meet some of the guys I’ve followed and looked up to, throughout my career as a Photoshop and Lightroom user and instructor. Just being in the building was a bit surreal, and to sit with Corey Barker, Dave Cross, Pete Collins and RC during one of the live recordings of the show was pretty amazing. I was there for two episodes 335 and 336.
It certainly was a morning I will not forget. And I was invited up again to participate in a special event (thanks RC) and look forward to meeting the rest of the crew there.
Thanks again for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
It is that time of year again for the world-wide event Help-Portrait. I am participating again this year with my best friend Charlie Brown at the The Star Family Center, in Daytona Beach, Florida. This is the same center that we photographed in last year and we are looking forward to this beyond humbling experience. Hope to have some pictures up throughout the day as we have a few surprises in store for the families and children.
Get ready to walk and shoot again this year. This will be a fun afternoon of shooting, learning and sharing ideas and tips. Here is the link to my New Smyrna Beach Photo Walk.
2012 Worldwide Photo Walk
This weekend around the world photographers grabbed their cameras and gear and participated in Help-Portrait. Participating in this year’s event with my best bud Charlie Brown was so rewarding and eye-opening. When we arrived to The Star Family Center, we were greeted with smiles. The center knew we’d be there to take portraits and it was so touching to see everyone so excited, getting ready, helping each other to look good for their photos. But it was beyond that. To see the light in the children’s eyes and the smiles from the parents who were having their first photos of their child. What was even more touching was how all the children wanted to help. As the prints were coming off the printer they lined up to help deliver them to the respective family. This was truly the gift. By the end of the day we knew most of them by name and it was hard to pack up. A few of the children helped all the way until the end and were so appreciative. A picture really is worth…
Here are some iPhone pics of our setup.
